Get my transfer code (EPP / authInfo) from my current registrar

What it is

To transfer a domain to 1SWISS1, your current registrar must give you a transfer code (also called authInfo, EPP code or authorisation code). It is a domain-specific password that proves you are the owner and authorises the move. Without this code, no transfer is possible.

To prepare before requesting the code

  • Unlock the domain: turn off the transfer lock (registrar lock) at your current registrar.
  • Disable DNSSEC at your current host (otherwise resolution may break during the switch).
  • Disable WHOIS / ID Protection if it is enabled.

Step by step

  1. Sign in to your current registrar's control panel (for example Infomaniak, OVH, Gandi).
  2. Open the page for the domain concerned.
  3. Look for Transfer code, Auth code or EPP. The code is sometimes shown after unlocking, sometimes emailed to the administrative contact.
  4. Copy the code with no extra spaces or characters.
  5. Start the transfer at 1SWISS1 and paste this code when prompted.

Frequently asked questions

The code is nowhere to be found? As the owner you are entitled to it: open a request with your current registrar's support so they provide it. For a .ch or .li domain, the Swiss registry SWITCH also lets the holder retrieve or reset the authInfo.

The transfer is rejected with a code error? Re-copy the code without spaces, check that it has not expired (some codes are valid only a few days) and that the domain is unlocked.

My domain is less than 60 days old? Recently registered or recently transferred domains are locked for 60 days: you must wait until that period ends.
